Fall Hunt
Riders planning to use the VMUTS trails should be aware that bow season runs from October 1st to November 1st and November 16th to November 30th. The season for grouse, or partridge, is also open. Moose season is also open now for rifles, from October 17th to November 15th. Rifle season for deer opens from November 2nd to 15th.
The VMUTS area is mostly crown land and is heavily hunted at that time. If you do choose to ride during hunting season, wear hunter’s orange clothing and be aware that there may be dangers from stray gunfire. It is also proper etiquette to avoid approaching blinds and tree stands used by deer hunters. Areas where hunters are actively pushing deer should also be avoided.
